Organization Overview: Since 1893, Henry Street has delivered the most effective, compassionate and comprehensive services possible to residents of the Lower East Side. As a multifaceted not-for-profit, Henry Street provides innovative social services, arts programs and healthcare services from 17 locations throughout the Lower East Side. Building upon its legacy for innovation and effective programming, Henry Street has grown to offer more than 50 different programs, currently making it one of the most comprehensive settlement houses in New York City, as well as one of the city's largest social service agencies. Henry Street is governed by a 45-member Board of Directors and is supported by government grants and contracts, as well as foundation, corporate, and individual support.
Henry Street Settlement's Job Essentials Training program (JET) and Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP) provides the tools and resources needed to complete a successful job search. Our employment programs are derived from proven models to provide holistic employment, education, and financial counseling services to low-income New Yorkers. Our goal is to help participants reduce and remove barriers to employment and to demonstrate knowledge of the core skills needed to successfully secure and maintain placement in an advanced education program and/or in permanent employment.
Qualifications: - Some college in Human Services, Business, or related field and one (1+) years relevant experience OR high school diploma/GED and three (3+) years relevant experience required; College degree preferred.
- Experience in workforce development, recruiting, human resources preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service to a diverse population
- Self-motivated, able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure both as an individual and member of a team
- Extremely organized, systems-oriented individual, able to maintain and coordinate data management efforts
- Strong time-management skills, and ability to effectively multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills required
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required, various data collection software required, database maintenance required, targeted internet research required, social media (including Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, CareerBuilder, Monster.com, etc.) preferred, web-based mailing services preferred
- Bilingual glish/Spanish preferred
Responsibilities: - Complete extensive data entry and paper filing including, but not limited to: sensitive client information, employment status, progress notes and other client tracking in multiple databases
- Complete weekly and monthly reports for funders, and run reports on client progress and outcomes
- Ensure data entry is completed by deadlines assigned, minimally by close of business every Friday
- Engage and outreach to clients for data entry, documentation, and updates
- Attend meetings, workshops, trainings, and conferences, as requested
- Travel to multiple service sites within the division as needed
- Open office building as needed
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
