Job Title: Attorney
Job Description: The Legal & Compliance department seeks a mid-level attorney primarily to support the Blackstone Insurance Solutions group, including its registered investment advisors, new product initiatives and existing products. They will also assist with Blackstonetrategic Partners and Private Wealth Solutions businesses.
The attorney will work on a variety of legal and compliance-related matters involving the investment businesses described above in coordination with all Blackstone business line legal teams, . Primary job responsibilities include:
- Responsibility for legal matters related to the structuring and distribution of Blackstoneroducts, including private funds and structured products
- Providing transactional support to the investment teams of the businesses above, relating to a broad range of investments, including public and private credit, structured products and private fund investments
- Assisting in compliance and regulatory matters: SEC and CFTC registrations, ERISA, and federal, state and international securities laws (including the Investment Advisors Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933 and the Exchange Act of 1934)
- Preparing regular reports to the portfolio managers and senior management regarding legal and compliance matters
- Coordinating various SEC, CFTC and foreign regulatory filings, including Section 13 filings
- Working with other members of the legal and compliance team for these businesses to ensure that compliance documents, including Registered Investment Adviser Policies and Procedures, CFTC Policies and Procedures, Form ADV Parts 1 and 2, Form PF and Compliance Audit Program are current, and to identify and address areas where policies and procedures need to be developed or amended
- Working with in-house and external counsel to monitor, and then implement responses to, regulatory developments that impact the businesses
- Working with Blackstone legal and compliance regarding firm wide compliance issues and projects; and special compliance/internal audit lated projects as necessary
Qualifications: Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:
- At least 5 yearsrectly related experience as an attorney in a law firm investment funds or credit group or with a credit oriented asset manager.
- A substantial knowledge of relevant rules and regulations and the day-to-day affairs of private funds (registered fund experience a plus)
- An understanding of credit instruments and products (e.g., public debt securities, loan syndications, CLOs) is a strong plus
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory issues is not required, but a strong plus
- An undergraduate degree and a law degree are required
- Demonstrated ability to write effectively
- Superior organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
