Position Summary A highly visible role for a talented Vice President of Billing who has proven operations experience improving the patient experience, a relentless focus on operational excellence, and driven to deliver P&L results. The ideal leader will be at the forefront of strategy and operational excellence involved in the management, coordination, and control of activities within Shared Service Centers which include: billing of patient accounts, compliance with third party payer regulations and audits, cash collections, vendor management, and employee productivity.
The successful leader will understand the unique advantage of having a proven global operating capability driven by proprietary technology and measures that enables scale to support a rapidly growing R1 RCM (R1). This position is also responsible for identifying and implementing ongoing improvements to key revenue cycle indicators including but not limited to accounts receivable days, cash as a percentage of Net Patient Revenue, and operational payer denials. This position oversees the management of local and remote resources who provide back-office revenue cycle services. In this role, the successful candidate will manage billing metrics efficiently as well as initiate contact with, and respond to inquiries from, a variety of external sources in the billing of hospital services.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated excellent leadership and management ability, attention to detail and the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment in order to achieve operational excellence.
Your day to day role will include:
Directly manages leaders within Shared Services and oversees setting overall strategy and structure to the organization
Serves as a Shared Services key point of contact for new and existing client sites which requires daily interaction with various client and internal Revenue Cycle executive leaders ( VP of Revenue Cycle, Hospital CFO, Senior R1 Operations Leadership)
Own daily management decisions regarding Shared Services billing operations
Mentor and coach direct reports in a fast-paced environment in order to achieve operational excellence and employee engagement
Understands and communicates variances and required actions to improve key revenue metrics and performance to VP of Shared Services and client revenue cycle executive leadership
Identify and implement performance and process improvements to realize net revenue, reduce uncompensated care, minimize controllable write-offs and achieve A/R targets
Ensure management team's direction adheres compliant with third party payer regulations, company policies, and audits.
You Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
At least 7 years of a proven success within a healthcare setting relating to billing and collections
Proven track record of managing effectively through the use of measurable metrics and holding staff accountable for results
Deep understanding of all hospital revenue cycle functional areas
Demonstrated ability to build strong, positive client relationships while achieving performance metrics
Proven ability to communicate key messages to multiple audiences (Exempt Staff through Hospital CFO's/VP of Revenue Cycle)
Practices service-oriented leadership; collaborates with peers (client & R1) and coaches/develops direct reports
Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Expert knowledge on all back office functional areas(billing, follow up, cash posting)
Extensive experience in accounts receivable management and Hospital business office operations
Experience managing both exempt and non-exempt staff
