The Integrated Genetics division of LabCorp is seeking a full-time Clinical Laboratory Director /Clinical Molecular Geneticist to join our diverse team of clinical laboratory geneticists and genetic counselors at the Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology located in Research Triangle Park, NC. The Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology is a state-of-the-art facility providing testing in the areas of biochemical genetics, molecular genetics and genomics, cytogenetics, and oncology. The Molecular Genetics department performs high-throughput carrier screening, Next-Generation, Sanger, and Whole Exome sequencing diagnostic testing, Non-Invasive Prenatal Screening, and provides testing services for clinical trials. Experienced, ABMGG Board-certified laboratory directors are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities: - Review, interpret, and report patient results reliably, accurately, and with integrity
- Make clinical decisions, effectively communicate genetic information related to test results, and provide clinical consultations to health care professionals
- Interact collaboratively with other laboratory directors, laboratory staff, genetic counselors, and teams across the organization
- Provide oversight for quality control and quality assurance as appropriate, including setting quality standards for new tests and procedures and participating in proficiency testing
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and maintain familiarity with company SOPs and practices and applicable professional guidelines and assure that the laboratory is in compliance
- Participate in new test development and validation as needed
- Analyze data for presentation or publication, review scientific literature and attend scientific meetings
Requirements Required Qualifications: - PhD or MD with relevant genetics and molecular biology experience
- American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics
Key skills: - Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and be meticulous
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic setting
- Understanding of principles of quality control and assurance
- Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and result interpretation is preferred
