Position description The Director of Clinical Bioinformatics will work collaboratively with the individual laboratory directors within DLMP engaged in NGS test development and/or sign-out and the Center for Individualized Medicine Independent Multidisciplinary Practice (CIM-IMP).
The Director will lead a team of experts in bioinformatics and biostatistics and will establish close partnership with the DLMP's IT team.
The Director will serve as both an expert and proponent for the bioinformatics needs of the DLMP with a strong emphasis to address the current clinical practice needs and champion critical innovation to lead DLMP into the future.
The Director will develop and implement a strategy plan for bioinformatics in DLMP to address existing needs and strengthen the Department's competitive edge. He/she will work with business development to access leading edge technology as appropriate.
The Director will work closely with colleagues in HSR to help ensure alignment of research-based bioinformatics activities with clinical bioinformatics direction where appropriate. Contribute to the design of solutions for complex bioinformatics problems
The Director and its staff are responsible to educate interested DLMP laboratory directors, fellows, and other staff members to improve the bioinformatics literacy in the department.
Qualifications Ph.D. in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science or a related field with training in bioinformatics
OR
M.D. with significant bioinformatics experience.
Candidates should have training in molecular biology with an understanding of DNA and RNA sequencing data in both hereditary and oncology settings.
At least 10 years of work experience, successfully leading a bioinformatics team
Additional qualifications Capable of developing a long term vision for bioinformatics, accounting for internal demand and external competitive landscape
Goal oriented and able of prioritizing bioinformatics activities to match agreed upon timelines
Outstanding communicator that can gather input and manage the expectation of consulting staff within DLMP

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $5,989.60, based on a full-time position.
