Group Manager/Associate Director, Marketing Excellence - Commercial Training & Development

The Position The Group Manager / Associate Director, Marketing Excellence (ME) will report to the Director of Marketing Excellence and manage a team of 1 or more trainers. Your primary focus will be to inspire and support the transformation of Genentech's marketing organization to be recognized as among the best-in-class in the industry. Through effective cross-functional partnering, you will drive awareness for our offerings and demonstrate the value ME delivers to the organization. You will also lead the development, implementation and facilitation of select ME programs.
Key Accountabilities In this position, you will be primarily accountable for consistently and effectively:
- Defining, structuring, overseeing and directly managing the work of your area and team
- Contributing your skills, knowledge, experience and abilities to identifying/creating innovative strategies, plans and tactics that will help improve year-on-year learning & development for Genentech marketers at all levels
- Creating an environment of positive team spirit, clear and timely communication, sense of urgency, high motivation and a reputation for delivering consistently strong business outcomes in the immediate- and long-term
- Leading the development of 1-year tactical plans and 3-year strategic plans for supported programs
- Designing and teaching programs with proper pull-through to ensure stickiness of learnings and behavior change
- Ensuring assigned area and team construct and implement their work and work output to directly align and fulfill assigned business partner needs, objectives and goals
- Working collaboratively with all internal/external partners and stakeholders
- Participating in/leading cross-functional or other project teams
- Ensuring your and your teams' work, projects and other deliverables meet or exceed goals and objectives
- Contributing as an "expert" and champion for the Marketing Excellence team with internal and external partners/stakeholders - bringing in-depth Marketing and Leadership skills & knowledge
- Working with the Director, Marketing Excellence to develop program goals, KPIs and metrics
- Leading and/or overseeing the development, recommendation & ongoing monitoring/ measuring of Marketing Excellence strategies, plans and tactics such that these will meet or exceed established goals & targets
- Owning accountability for your compliance and compliance of individuals on your team, demonstrating full knowledge of and commitment to all applicable policies. Monitoring adherence to company policies and guidelines and acting according to established procedures to ensure all issues are addressed and resolved as required

Qualifications - Bachelors Degree
- MBA or other related graduate-level degree is preferred
- Average of 12 or more years' work experience or 10 with masters degree
- 6 or more years' previous marketing experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech or other related life-sciences industry, or equivalent experience in consulting
- 2 or more years' previous sales or related training design or facilitation in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industry
- Previous people management required
- Experienced Marketer who understands how training can be developed and applied to add value to the business. Familiar with the strategic drivers for the biotech/pharma environment.
- Previous experience that includes both training design and delivery responsibilities is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to navigate and succeed within cross-functional, matrixed environment
