The YMCA of Metro Atlanta serves more than 300,000 individuals with 23 full facilities and ten additional camping and childcare locations. The Y provides financial assistance to support more than 25,000 youth, teens and families. The Y offers programs that serve kids, adults and families at all stages of life. As the largest provider of early learning and after-school programs in Georgia, the Y is closing the achievement gap for Atlanta youth. General Function:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Sports Director will develop a sports collaboration in the city of Atlanta, organize variety of sports leagues, administer and evaluate all sports to create a stronger footprint in Atlanta. This position must perform program responsibilities in accordance with the policies, goals, mission values and objectives established by the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA and the Youth Sports Philosophy. Emphasis will also be placed on the development and/or expansion of current/future programs. This position has a direct budget accountability of $100k - $250K.
Know How:
Must have a minimum of three yearsperience in work relating to recreation, and/or education, either paid or volunteer. High degree of human relation skills: Ability to effectively communicate and manage information to peers, staff and volunteers Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain relationships with staff, YMCA members, volunteers, schools and general public. Exemplify YMCA ideals, leadership qualities and a professional image. A working knowledge or computers: MS Word, MS Excel and database management. A four year college degree is required; will accept commensurate experience. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective time management skills. Demonstrated knowledge of athletic league and program administration. Must have current CPR/AED (can be certified within first 90 days) and obtain any other certifications required for job.

Essential Functions: Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate program volunteers and staff as they relate to program activities. Maintain athletic fields, gyms, facilities and equipment in accordance with risk management policies as directed. Market all programs on a regular basis. Schedule and maintain facilities and equipment within program areas to the highest level of efficiency. Attend and participate in Metro Cabinet activities that pertain to areas of program and responsibilities. Carry out, and delegate as needed, daily program tasks related directly to the positioncope and responsibility. Develop and operate within approved budget guidelines as it relates to each program area. In consultation with the Executive Director, develop long range goals, objectives and priorities for all programs. Stay educated and updated on current issues regarding sports, and athletic programs. Maintain accurate statistical reports. Assist in preparation of the annual budget, income and expenses for all related programs. Manage delivery of related programs to exceed YMCA standards and program objectives. Include Character building Initiatives whenever possible. Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Multi Media First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, new Metro Atlanta YMCA staff orientation, branch orientation and Branch Emergency procedures. Ergonomic Requirements: Bending, stooping, standing, lifting up to 30-40 pounds, seeing, verbal communication and hearing.

This position has a direct impact on the continued effectiveness of the YMCA in the community as well as on its membership. This effectiveness can be measured by:
The perceived quality of programs and services by members and the community. The number of activities running in our community for youth, teens and adults. The amount of participant growth in each program and new programs added. The increased enlistment of new volunteers. Parents and Children understand and support the Mission and Values of the program as we build a stronger foundation for the community. This position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness with which the program accomplishes its purpose, goals and objectives in serving the community.
