Job Description Job Description and Responsibilities Reporting to the Chief Research Officer, the Senior Director-National Technology Strategy will be a key link between cutting edge government customers and VMwareutting edge R&D capabilities. This person should have excellent technology strategy experience in the Intelligence Community/National Security sector(s).
The NTS will take a customer-centric approach to shaping and articulating the components of VMwareechnology strategy that are of specific relevance to Federal government customers. He/She should have the ability to lead virtual teams in an enterprise software product and service environment.
This executive will focus on VMwareederal government customer strategy, with initial focus on the National Security space. He/She will be an integral part of the Senior Federal Leadership Team and a thought leader in VMware.
Primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Trusted advisor: The Senior Director, National Technology Strategy will discuss the broad technology landscape with decision makers and advise them on how to leverage new technology to enhance their organizationission effectiveness.
- Recognized thought leader: Expand VMwarenfluence within the government sector by articulating VMwareechnology vision through a range of vehicles, including industry events, press and analyst engagements, sales meetings, and social media.
- Great partner: Play a leadership role as a member of VMwareovernment field technical community, helping to connect field engineers and selected technology partners with VMwarextended R&D community.
- PoC engagements: When appropriate, engage deeply with customers and partners to stand up PoCs that demonstrate unique value propositions. This will require virtual teams of field engineers, R&D, partners, contractors, etc.
Internal advocate: Anticipate the requirements of our government customers and engage with VMwareroduct engineering teams to advocate for roadmaps and innovation that take account of those differentiated needs.
Requirements: - 10+years of customer-facing experience in the Enterprise Software and/or Systems Integrator spaces that involved exerting significant influence on the customersoice of technologies and solutions.
- Track record of meaningful SES-level interactions that have resulted in continuing relationships, acknowledged thought leadership and a reputation for prioritizing customer success in meeting mission objectives.
- 5-10 years of customer-based design, architecture, and implementation experience in the national security community; strong mission focus.
- Excellent grasp of technology and industry trends coupled with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex solutions; Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, features, and business & IT value propositions for Federal customers.
- Proven ability to work closely with field sales organizations, technology partners and R&D teams. Able to align stakeholder interests and navigate customer organizations to ensure successful outcomes.
- Strong organizational and project management skills. Track record of assembling virtual teams to create and field demonstrations, PoCetc.
- Deals well with ambiguity. Able to manage competing customer demands and concurrent customer engagements.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills. Must have the proven ability to deliver concise, logical, written documents and the presence to deliver the companyision and product definitions to both large and small audiences.
- High ethical standards.
- Top Secret Clearance.
- Some travel will be required, especially to VMwarealo Alto offices.
- BS in Computer Science or related degree. Advanced degree strongly desired.
