Job Description The Assistant Director of Interdisciplinary Engineering will be the primary person responsible for the ordinary operation and interfacing with Interdisciplinary Engineering students, which includes students pursuing BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Interdisciplinary Engineering, MEng in Engineering (Subsea, EnMed, Cybersecurity, and other concentrations), MEng in Systems Engineering, and the Doctor of Engineering in Engineering. The Assistant Director will report directly to the Director of Interdisciplinary Engineering and work closely with program specialists and advisors to coordinate advising of students, program promotion and outreach, and policy and processes as related to students and course scheduling. Students in Interdisciplinary Engineering programs are located in College Station, Galveston, and McAllen, and includes distance learning students.
JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:
- Reports to the Director of Interdisciplinary Engineering
- Provides student academic advising responsibility to students in all degree programs.
- MS, PhD, and DEng research advising provided by respective faculty advisor
- BS ITDE student-designed program of study (i.e., Build your Own Major) advised by Director of Interdisciplinary Engineering
- Serves as ex-officio member of the ITDE Advisory Committee, including organizing meeting and meeting agenda.
- Organizes outreach, promotion, and recruitment of prospective students
- Organizes cohort building and retention functions of current students
- Develops policy and processes for organization / operation of ITDE program
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 6 years of related experience in management.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Master's degree
