Director, Product for AMEX Advance
AMEX Advance is a new business within American Express focused on commercializing our closed loop data and data science advantage. Its Product & Marketing Team is in search of a talented professional to join our growing team.
The data that flows through our closed-loop network is an important competitive advantage for American Express. For decades, we have leveraged this data to enhance service to customers, encourage commerce between our card members, merchants and partners, and to mitigate risk. With the advent of Big Data, advanced analytics like machine learning and the proliferation of online and mobile commerce, we now have a unique opportunity to harness the full power of our data to enable growth not only for our traditional merchant partners, but for a wide range of other partners as well.
AMEX Advanceission is to leverage AMEX data assets and capabilities, combined with those of our partners, to drive commerce and solve business problems. Our current product suite addresses the marketing industry and includes solutions for ad targeting and audience and campaign effectiveness measurement. Additionally we are actively ideating new products that address areas outside of marketing.
The Product teambjective is to manage product strategy, feature design, and development roadmaps for our existing products, and to ideate, design, and develop go to market strategies for new data products. Additionally, the product team owns all business and product marketing work streams, including marketing collateral, website, and other marketing activities.
The successful candidate will support this objective and bring a unique perspective to surpassing our annual goals.
Key responsibilities include: - Lead a small team that manages 1-2 current data products, including ongoing product strategy assessments, feature road mapping, pricing analyses, and go-to- market strategies
- Be a thought leader across the Amex Advance business on product constructs and go to market strategies
- Solicit and understand customer feedback/needs and transform them into product solutions and roadmaps; react quickly to urgent client needs
- Work closely with data science and platforms teams to ensure product roadmaps are implemented
- Ideate new product constructs, build business cases, and gain buy-in to start product development
- Consult with Business Development team and partners to advise on product solutions for partners
- Collaborate with graphic designers to develop marketing collateral
Qualifications Qualifications: - Experience in product management or marketing, with experience managing data or digital products preferred. Knowledge of programmatic advertising and digital targeting a plus
- Strong strategic thinking skills and experience developing business and product strategies, including revenue and financial models
- Experience leading teams with diverse backgrounds in a fast paced, ambiguous environment
- Experience managing many cross-functional stakeholders, including data scientists, and driving large scale projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to create compelling PowerPoint presentations and present ideas clearly and concisely; Prior experience in a partner-facing role is a plus
- Strong business acumen; prior P&L management experience a plus
- Effective prioritization and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and comfort handling ambiguity
- Collaborative approach to solving business problems
- Bachelor's degree required
- MBA or degree in related field is preferred
