Job Description The Assistant Director of Career Services is responsible for assisting the Assistant Dean in all aspects of departmental operations and administration and oversees and evaluates the daily operations of major functional programs including counseling services, seminar programming, data collection and reporting, on-campus interviews, resume collects, job bank, job fairs, and career services management software system. The incumbent is also responsible for general career counseling of 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls on all aspects of legal career and professional development process including reviewing resumes, cover letters, job applications, and conducting mock interviews.
Required Education and Experience: - Bacheloregree or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Six years of progressively responsible management experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements or Other Factors
- May be required to work evenings and weekends.
Salary: $5416.67 to 5916.67 per month.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctor degree.
- Five years combination law practice experience.
- Supervisory experience.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
- State bar license.
- Membership in federal, state, and local bar associations.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Career services experience.
Responsibilities: - The incumbent is responsible for supervision and development of all Career Services support staff, providing leadership and continuous feedback throughout the year.
- The incumbent will determine and leverage support staff resources for each of the functional areas.
- They will be responsible for the annual reviews for each support staff and will be the primary liaison between staff and the Assistant Dean.
- Develops, reviews and analyzes reports and surveys including year-end reports, exit survey, and graduate employment survey.
- Oversees the administration of the exit survey, graduate employment survey, and year-end reports for submission to the National Association of Law Placement, the American Bar Association, and US News & World Report.
- Ensures the reporting is completed timely and accurately.
- The incumbent provides career counseling to law students and alumni.
- The incumbent is responsible for general career counseling of 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls on all aspects of the legal career and professional development process including reviewing resumes, cover letters, job applications, and conducting mock interviews.
- Oversees on-campus interview and resume collect program, participation in job fairs, and job bank.
- Oversees all seminar programs and events.
- The incumbent conducts outreach and coordinates communications with employers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
