Position Description The University of Pittsburghffice of Provost is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Communications Director. Reporting to the Assistant Provost for Strategic Communications, the Communications Director takes initiative to support and advance the Office of the Provostommunications strategies and outreach. Effectively, enthusiastically, and accurately communicating both the vision and the guiding principles of the Office of the Provost is central to the communications teamfforts d to this role in particular. Demonstrated project management expertise, preferably within the higher education environment om visioning and establishing initial timelines, to project development, completion, and evaluation essential for success in this position.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Baccalaureate degree in English, journalism, or communications required, Masteregree in these fields or another relevant field preferred. Minimum of 10 years of successful marketing and communications experience and recognized excellence in professional writing, speech writing, interviewing and feature writing for traditional media channels as well as social media channels.
Ten years of experience working in higher education is preferred, specifically working closely with administrators, faculty, students, staff, alumni, and donors in an academic environment. Must have experience in supporting senior level executives in a communications capacity, experience in managing complex projects within large organizations, ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and to proactively manage time-sensitive initiatives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; knowledge of InDesign is a plus.
