JOB DESCRIPTION: Position Summary Responsible for the global supply chain functions at Abbott Diabetes Care. The Director will serve as a key member of the Worldwide Operations Leadership team reporting directly to the DVP Worldwide Operations. The role will champion key supply chain initiatives for the company and will be responsible for developing critical enterprise supply chain initiatives by employing best practices and strategies, and ensuring effective implementation and execution of the above across the company. Ensure all compliance measures are met within global guidelines. Identify and implement best in class technology and infrastructure suitable to the scope and size of the business along with disciplines
that underlie a supply chain operation. Develop global implementation of distribution best practices such as systems integration and optimization, inventory control, and SKU optimization. Leads management routines to monitor core supply chain performance, including delivering against product and service level agreements and cost objectives with increasing visibility and effectiveness as well as support growth through best practices. Additionally responsible to lead the Divisional Sales and Operations Planning activities. This role ensures continuous improvement through proactive leadership and development of direct reports and is responsible for running a cost effective operation staying within budgetary guidelines, while building business performance.
Direction and overall management of all daytoday supply chain operations.
Develops supply chain strategy that supports and meets company strategy, company performance objectives and customer expectations.Develop, recommend, obtain approval for, and assure implementation of specific policies and procedures with regard to supply chain operations of the Division.
This will include a commitment and understanding of the company's long range growth strategy and goals and effective interface with marketing, sales, finance, regulatory, and research & development to achieve these goals.
Function as a key decision maker and member of the company's Operations management team.
Division representative of the Abbott Supply Chain Council, Logistics Council and Warehouse Council. Direct development of standards and procedures in anticipation of meeting regulatory requirements domestically and internationally in regards to distribution, warehousing and import/export requirements.
Responsible for strategy, direction and management of supply chain processes and procedures with domestic and international distribution partner(s).
Establish objectives for all functions to ensure conformity to company and industry standards (GMP, QSR, ISO). Minimizes company risk and maintain compliance in area of environment, health, and safety (EH&S). Work with internal and external functions to identify and implement major supply chain optimization projects. Lead supply chain activities across the Division in connection with product introduction and discontinuation to ensure smooth
and effective program execution, minimizing obsolescence while ensuring product availability.
Accountability/Scope/Budget
Incumbent has substantial autonomy and must be able to operate with limited supervision to transform the current business supply chain model, driving performance and efficiency in end to end supply chains. A high degree of business judgment, interpersonal and communication skills with multiple functions, business units and external partners and customers is required to successfully perform in this role.Accountable across the Division for supply chain strategy, capability, execution and performance. Responsible for ensuring timely assessment and implementation of new product introductions, promotions and end of life planning. Position is accountable for functions delivering supply planning, replenishment planning, logistics, and warehousing, distribution and transportation activities for the Division. Planning and distribution network is in excess of 700 items across three manufacturing plants, four TPMs and 80 distribution hubs with responsibility for finished goods inventories globally in excess of 100MM, supporting sales in excess of 1.37BN Functional efficiency and execution is essential in delivering business performance and has substantial impact on the organizations commercial profitability.
Functional teams and direct reports are located in US and Europe supporting Divisional activities worldwide.
Qualifications Bachelors degree required, preferred Masters degree. 5 years leadership/management experience. 10 years experience in supply chain and operations management inclusive of sales and operations planning, logistics
operations, customer service, production planning, manufacturing, materials planning and procurement. Knowledge of key supply chain/logistics processes
& current best practices. Strong analytical, financial and P&L skill required. Demonstrated ability of managing cost performance, supply/demand forecasting & distribution execution across a variety of product lines from multiple sources. Experience in management information systems, supply chain technology/processes such as SAP, Oracle, JIT, ERP, DRP. Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting medical devices (FDA QSR/ISO 13485) is required. Ability to travel.
