The Medical Director of Clinical Operations ( MDCO) is a physician who promotes patient safety, seeks to enhance the provision of efficient, effective, evidence based and patient centric care with a focus on reducing clinical variation in care.The MDCO reports directly to the Vice President Clinical Affairs.(VPCA). In addition, the Medical Director of Clinical Operations collaborates with the VPCA and partners actively with the EVP & President of Hospital Operations, SVP of Patient Care Services/CNO, and SVP of Hospital Operations and Support Services. Assists the VPCA in supporting the medical staffs in the performance of delegated medical staff responsibilities including credentialing, peer review, utilization review, case management and HIM integrity.
Qualifications - Masters - Business Administration or similar post-graduate degree desirable - Preferred
- 10 years - Clinical Practice in a Managed Care Setting (Unsupervised) - Required
- 5 years as an effective physician leader in an administrative role - Required
- Medical Board of California - Current and Unrestricted MD License - Required
- In good standing with the Medical Board of California
- Board Certified in appropriate specialty
- Proven ability in a medical leadership position-initiative, effectiveness, and credibility with other physicians.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical skills essential.
- Computer literate in terms of core transaction systems for claims and authorizations.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
- Flexible and able to prioritize day-to-day position requirements
- Comfortable with multiple accountabilities and matrix management
- Proven record of strong relationships and working with diverse teams
