We are looking for a dynamic, inventive, entrepreneurial, self-starting and visionary development professional, who can take accountability for the definition and execution of a broad spectrum of physical/digital products and experiences.
If you are to become successful in this role you have the capabilities to plan and drive the execution of a diverse portfolio of complex projects and platforms across different consumer segments, categories and brands. You must be comfortable working on physical products with varying level of mechanical complexity, products rich in content as well as products that seamlessly connect to digital software and mobile devices via different technologies. On top of this, you will be consumer savvy and be able make or drive decisions that contribute to delivering the best end consumer experience and value.
Working in a cross-functional team environment and Reporting to the VP, Design & Development, the Director of Integrated Product Engineering will lead a team of engineers and will be required to own certain projects as well as delegate and monitor others within the team. You will be able to make fast and informed decisions and nurture an agile group who can reorganize as priorities shift. It will be your responsibility to mentor, grow and move your team forward through training and experience.
Through key collaborations with cross-functional partners (including Design, Content, Software, Technology, Project Management, Packaging/Branding) and Marketing, you and your team will create a clear and shared vision and plan for each project. At initial stages of each project, you will lead a feasibility risk assessment of technology, materials, manufacturability, and schedule and put together a clear and creative plan for how to execute the vision to Hasbroigh standards of quality, the cost expectations of the consumer and with the right level of engagement within the experience.
You will partner with iPlayong Kong Director of Product Development and their cross-functional team as they oversee the process of costing & design for manufacture, vendor bidding & selection, costing & design for manufacture and quality assurance and reliability. You and your team will provide support and guidance through the BOM generation, proof-of-concept & model-making, mold-plan & tooling development, and pre-production debug phases to ensure we are developing the best product and experience possible.
You and your team will be expected to foresee potential problems that may occur throughout the development cycle and work tirelessly to prevent them from occurring. Should they occur you must be ready to react in a swift and strategic manner to minimize impact on schedule, cost or quality.
Utilizing and internal/external mind-set the successful candidate will be responsible for bringing in new ideas, materials, technologies, resources and process improvements helping to build a pipeline of future initiatives and break-frame products & experiences that will ensure this team continues to be at the cutting edge of the industry for the years to come.
As part of the iPlay leadership group you will also work closely with the Directors of Production, Project Management, Technology and Design/Creative leads to improve team culture, environment, overall development process and capabilities.
Experience: - 10-15 years of product development experience (experience in the technology/consumer electronic industry expected)
- 5 years as a leader of technical/creative development teams. (Mechanical/Electronic/Technology)
- Domain-expertise in Design for Manufacture
- Experience in (or an understanding of) software development
- Experience working with external development partners
- Experience in working within/with a start-up organization
Education: - Bacheloregree in Mechanical Engineering (Or similar/connected field)
- Leadership Training programs
- MBA or EMBA considered a bonus
