Director, Student Disability Services

The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Student Disability Services.

The Division: The Division of Student Life is comprised of over 400 staff that serve students through 16 departments and function areas. The Division seeks candidates willing to engage, challenge and support students through intentional programs and services.
Responsibilities: The position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life, and is responsible for day to day management of all departmental operations. Duties include providing strategic leadership; drafting policies and procedures for the provision of appropriate accommodations to students in accordance with federal, state, and local laws; fiscal management including developing and monitoring all departmental budget accounts; supervise 19 full-time staff, several temporary employees, as well as student employees; develop and implement trainings for students, faculty and staff; develop, implement, and report assessment initiatives; and establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key campus and community stakeholders.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: A Masteregree in higher education administration, counseling psychology, college student personnel, or other fields related to the delivery of services to a university student population. Supervisory and managerial experience within higher education environment; 3-5 yearsperience working with students with disabilities in a higher education setting; extensive knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other appropriate laws pertaining to higher education and disability.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills; commitment to the educational development of students; demonstrated organizational skills; experience working effectively with a diverse student population; and experience with relevant technologies.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
