The Quality Director will be responsible for establishing a corporate quality assurance program and team that promotes laboratory and field quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance and that positively impacts the financial performance of SGS North America, Oil, Gas and Chemicals Services Division.
- Structure and organize the Quality staff, ensuring quality functions are being performed, as required.
- Maintain quality staff job results by coaching, counselling and disciplining employees; planning monitoring and appraising job results.
- Assist local management with performance evaluations of departmental staff as needed.
- Play a lead role in the company's future planning efforts with respect to quality.
- Achieve financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Provide all employees with training in ISO / ASTM / UOP / IP / EPA , and other applicable regulations.
- Audit regional and branch laboratories and operations departments for technical and system evaluation to ensure good housekeeping procedures and compliance with company/industry standards.
- Help regional laboratories respond to corrective actions, follow-up, train correct, implement and prevent errors.
- Coordinate and conduct regular Management Review Meetings.
- Manage internal audits of departments, data, systems, and facilities. Report findings to management. Organize and plan follow-up inspections as part of corrective action processes.
- Manage audits of vendors and subcontractors as mandated by executive management.
- Review new or revised SOPs generated at the facility.
- Assist proper communication to employees and management on the implementation of policies, procedures, and practices and compliance with government agency statutes and regulations including environmental protection and compliance.
- Write and update SOPs pertaining directly to quality functions.
- Stay current with regulations, industry standards and other applicable technologies.
- Manage laboratory profeciency program (RR) for ASTM / IIS / Customers / Industries.
- Monitor proficiency program performance / outlliers / defeciencies / corrective actions.
- Conduct / coordinate / manage training & quality solutions based on RR defeciencies.
- At all times, comply with company policies including the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
- BS/MS in chemistry or related degree preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a Quality Management role preferably in the Oil, Gas & Chemicals industry and 10 years of experience working in a Quality role.
- Must have full understanding of ISO 9001, 17025, 17020 and other applicable quality management systems and other regulatory guidelines.
- Lead auditor certification preferred.
- Experience and familiarity with word processing and database software required.
- Must be able to travel domestically and/or internationally, as required.
- Must be able to be available and willing to work/manage our 24/7 business.

- Maintain quality data base up-to-date in order to understand and keep track of laboratory quality system at all the time.

- Maintains a strong knowledge of and commitment to Group and Divisional HSE Targets and Objectives by setting, monitoring and formally reporting local Targets and Objectives.

- Ensures risk assessments are completed for all routine and non routine activities.
- Ensures Safe Working Methods are in place and applied in all operations and as identified by contract.
- Identifies client and project HSE requirements and ensures these are built into the work while supporting the Group HSE Management System.
- Ensures that suppliers / contractors are apprised of relevant HSE requirements and that any adverse HSE impacts of their activities or products are managed and minimized.
- Identifies and provides relevant HSE training for their personnel.
- Actively promotes good housekeeping and safe use of equipment.
- Participates in incident investigations involving their department personnel.
- Assists HSE staff in the completion of department HSE audits.
