POSITION SUMMARY: We currently have an opening for a Managing Director, Defined Contribution Institutional Sales based in New York or Boston.
The Defined Contribution Institutional Sales role is a newly created position resulting from the firmtrategic expansion of its DCIO solutions business. Reporting to the EVP, Head of DCIO, the candidate will focus on developing and expanding the firmefined contribution investment only business targeting large institutional clients. The candidate will represent Nuveenull suite of active and indexed investment capabilities, with specific expertise in in-plan guaranteed income and target date offerings to DC plan sponsors across the U.S. The role will also provide input to the DCIO business strategy and firm positioning efforts. The successful candidate will be critical in building Nuveenresence in the institutional DC market. This role will work collaboratively across the DCIO leadership team, other members of the US Advisory Services team and TIAA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Drive DCIO asset growth by developing and executing a progressive strategic and tactical business plan to deliver sales and grow assets in the 401(k) market with specific focus on Qualified Default Investment Alternatives (QDIAs) and in-plan income solutions
- Develop institutional sales pipeline, reflecting plan sponsor demand, in-line with sales targets
- Develop and maintain strategic client relationships aligned with business development plan/ pipeline
- Engage with targeted prospects/clients in a holistic effort to identify potential sales opportunities and key considerations, leading with strong investment, DC, and in-plan income expertise
- Leverage strong understanding of capital markets, firm and competitor DCIO solutions to drive the sales process
- Leverage additional internal teams as needed (e.g., Investments, Client Portfolio Managers, etc.)
- Gather valuable feedback from prospects and clients and disseminate it to team members
- Serve as a Nuveen thought leader in the Defined Contribution industry and products, including multi-asset and insurance solutions
- Identify opportunities for industry speaking engagements and key conference sponsorships to raise the visibility of Nuveen
- Translate complex concepts into competitive positioning for NuveenC solutions
- Provide guidance and support for development and customization of marketing materials
- Manage meeting coordination, material preparation and follow up
- Diligently track and report progress
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: - 15 - 20 years financial services experience
- 7 - 10 years industry experience in the institutional Defined Contribution arena with a major provider
- Defined contribution institutional sales experience, including experience selling target date strategies and other custom products to large DC plan sponsors
- In-depth knowledge of the Defined Contribution industry and products, including multi-asset and insured solutions, as well as mutual funds, CITs and managed accounts
- Ability to utilize and leverage data and metrics to complement strategic objectives
- Self-motivated with a proven track record of building and executing business development plans successfully
- Excellent presentation and communication to articulate the Nuveenapabilities to sophisticated retirement investors and consultants
- Strong collaboration and team-building skills, with proven ability to work across a complex organizational culture
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, influencing, and consultative skills
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively
- Passion for financial markets, investment solutions and the defined contribution market
