The Director of Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy will be a compassionate, forward-thinking and creative leader who will nurture a culture of empathy, respect and service at Howard County General Hospital. The Director will lead a team of chaplains, Clinical Pastoral Education students and community volunteers, while assisting patients and employees in accessing meaningful spiritual services. The Director will develop strong relationships with the Howard County faith community to advance the vision of HCGH as the hub of health, hope and wellness in Howard County. The Director will lead a Clinical Pastoral Education Program and other educational activities related to the integration of spirituality and medicine at HCGH. The Director will minister; support and counsel patients and employees during times of emotional and spiritual distress, and will collaborate the HCGH Population Health Department on initiatives promoting mind and body health in the external community. The director will create an annual work plan and processes to manage departmental effectiveness and achieve the above goals.
The Director will report to the president of Howard County General Hospital, with strategic oversight from the Senior Director of Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy for Johns Hopkins Health System.

5 years of related experience required
Masters Degree required
Board Certified Chaplain and ACPE Educator.
Certified graduate with a Masters of Divinity or equivalent from an institution accredited through the Association of Theological Schools or one of the regional Association of Colleges and Schools or its equivalent.
Experience with Palliative Care teams also preferred.
Ordained as a clergy person in specific faith community in good standing with all rights and privileges thereof.
Community organizing or work with faith health initiatives preferred.
Master's in Business Administration or Masters in Public Health a plus
