- Provides risk expertise while working with the businesses and other risk partners (e.g., Compliance, Technology Risk, etc.) to proactively identify risk exposures across PNC.
- Oversees the reporting of business self assessment results (including new initiatives, business as usual activities, and risk management program) to higher level management.

Position Overview As a Director of Model Risk Governance & Control within PNC's Model Risk Management (MRM) organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. The incumbent of this position reports to the Chief Model Risk Officer (CMRO) & manages a team of 10 staff members including an administrative assistant.
Governance
The incumbent defines, manages & tracks PNC's bank-wide MRM framework & controls program to ensure proper management of model risk & compliance with regulatory guidance on MRM. He/she partners with key constituents in each of PNC's eight businesses & functional areas to formulate & implement controls & processes to manage model risk. Ensure all aspects of compliance with regulatory guidance for model risk management are identified & acted upon. Assist & train first line of defense personnel in these processes & their roles in model risk management.
Responsible for PNC's MRM Policy & the Model Lifecycle Procedures (MLP), & periodic updates & clarifications. Collaborate w/first line on model risk management activities & changes to the policy & procedures. Be responsible for management & revision to templates used by the first & second line that are tools that aid in compliance with the MLP. These include model validation templates, model documentation templates, exception approval templates, compensating measure logs, etc.
Provide thought leadership on current & future practices & processes for managing model risk within PNC & implement those improvements as part of PNC's overall MRM program. Ensure PNC's program remains in line w/standard practice in the industry & regulatory expectations as both evolve.
Act as secretary, prepare agenda, & distribute materials for the MRM Committee. Moderate the meeting if the CMRO is absent. Prepare agenda & materials for regulatory meetings & run the meeting in the absence of the CMRO.
Manage MRMGs' interactions w/Internal Audit, Regulators, & Consultants.
Update training materials on MRM for the first line. Set up a program with Corporate Training to ensure first line participants take required model risk management training.
Interact with the Operational Risk Domain & ensure MRMG is compliant with all relevant aspects of the operational risk management program.
Control
FIRST LINE CONTROLS: Manage a team of five people responsible for testing of the first line's compliance w/MRM controls.
MRMG'S OWN INTERNAL CONTROLS: Design & execution of a well-controlled process to ensure model validations are performed according to MRMG's high standards. Testing of MRMG's internal controls designed to ensure their own processes are followed.
Manage a team of 3 responsible for administering the validation process of PNC's 400 models. Collaborate with the first line to plan validations, gather materials & sign-offs from the first line to initiate validations, track validation project through completion, ensure quality control of validation reports prior to publication, add any issues to MRMG's issues management database, & ensure MRMG complies with its own document retention requirements related to validation reports, associated artifacts & work papers, & model data.
Write PNC internal procedures & administer & test MRMG's internal controls to ensure they've been carried out effectively.
Act as the COO for MRMG. At times the incumbent will be asked to sit meetings for the CMRO, & will work w/Enterprise Risk Management to ensure MRMG is fulfilling any commitments & tasks required of the risk domains under the CRO.
Preferences/Skills
12 plus years experience with a financial institution. Experience with governance, policy, and control frameworks within the banking industry is preferred.
Requires ability to organize and manage numerous processes and projects on tight schedules.
Requires excellent people management skills and ability to influence, but consider points of view, of multiple constituents.
Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written-are essential. This is a very visible position within the bank and the incumbent will interact with many constituents at various levels throughout the bank to syndicate new ideas and processes, and promote buy-in.
