The Regional Sales Manager & Strategic Account Manager is responsible for the dual role of managing and leading a team of Area Sales Managers and to lead a cross-functional strategic account team for assigned strategic accounts.
Regional sales manager is the first line manager of area sales managers within the assigned regional geography. Responsible for leading and motivating sales representatives to accomplish the sales and business objectives withing the framework of company policy and the law.
Strategic account responsibility include being a primary point of contact and overall leadership of their assigned accounts through extensive collaboration and communication with strategic account team, will drive the creation of viable business opportunities, execute of account plan, generating sales and services revenue growth.
Major responsibilities - Responsible for achieving specified Regional sales objectives.
- Establishes a plan for using all allocated resources to accomplish the sales and planned objectives of the Region within budget. Is responsible for analyzing, evaluating and interpreting formal and informal reports to determine if resources are being used effectively to increase operating results as well as re-directing resources to maximize sales as business conditions warrant.
- Actions any needed changes in personnel assignments and customer alignments that will optimize sales results.
- Is responsible for recruiting, selecting, developing and maintaining an increasingly competent m Representatives with assigned Region. Development is accomplished by the process of setting goals, providing training opportunities, coaching to achieve the goals/objectives set and by quarterly performance evaluations while traveling with the representative.
- Is directly responsible for developing, communicating and executing Regional Business Plan. Ensures an open communication environment for direct reports and customers.
- Completes and maintains accurate, concise and timely communications, inclusive of Field Coach Reports. Applies appropriate coaching styles to each direct report to develop skills and ensure accountability. Successffully completes all sales training requirements.
- Recognizes and understand the importance of Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health ("BI AH" or the "Company") standards and goals regarding Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) in area of responsibility and behave/manage in a manner consistent with those standards and goals.
Account Management
Implement and execute effective sales and services strategies to ensure maximum share of the assigned strategic accountpending on BIAH and comparable products and services.
Pro-actively work with aligned account team members to develop account plans and execution of field activities that grow/defend BIAH business position.
Develop an extensive knowledge base of all assigned strategic accounts, including their business profile, key players, competition, business processes, culture, technology footprint, compelling events, political environment and strategies.
Build a Strategic Customer Business Plan (SCBP) for each assigned strategic account, keeping it up-to-date and sharing its content with all Strategic Account Team members and management as applicable.
Routinely discuss and communicate account activity, progress and opportunity plans with other members of the account team, as well as BIAH business management
Ensure customer satisfaction through strengthened BI presence and establishing proactive relationships with decision-makers and influencers, both within the accounts and other third parties of influence.
Attend and participate in customer team meetings, and communicate regularly with Strategic Account Team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
Opportunity Management
Identify, pursue and close new sales opportunities through the successful execution of BIAHpportunity Management Planning process (OMP).
Position BIAH to win new business within the account by developing, communicating and driving effective selling strategies that are based on valid, customer specific Mutual Value Propositions (MVP).
Maintain an accurate and documented pipeline of opportunities within the Strategic Customer Business Plan (SCBP) and provide appropriate communication of such to BIAH management and the employeeirect manager.
Provide BIAH management and the employeeirect manager with accurate and timely sales forecasts to ensure proper visibility of new and current business to optimize effective inventory and resource planning.
Continuously gather knowledge of competitors and how to effectively position BIAH solutions against them.
Leverage and effectively communicate BIAHolutions within the accounts to broaden BIAHresence and create new opportunities.
Strategic Account Team Leadership
Lead an effective strategic account team for all assigned accounts.
Lead and participate in internal account team meetings, and communicate with account team members to ensure successful execution of strategy.
Participate as needed in transition meetings within the account, to ensure proper and consistent communication with customer and Customer Support Teams, as well as a presentation of face the customer.
Proactively contribute to BIAHrganizational growth objectives by providing mentoring and coaching, as needed, to new members of Strategic Account Team, as well as to new BIAH employees.
Administrative Management
Comply with all BIAH Human Resources, sales, proposals and contract policies.
Ensure all information is updated accurately and regularly within the BIAH CRM system for full team visibility.
Comply in a timely manner with all travel and expense policies.
Maintain appropriate levels of involvement in Customer issues requiring resolution, including invoices, billings and accounts receivables.
Personal Development
Develop an Individual Personal Development Plan that will include your business and personal goals and objectives. Discuss, confirm and review on an ongoing basis with BIAH Management along with the Employeeirect manager.
Continue to build and grow personal knowledge of industry trends and BIAH product offerings, as well as your general business acumen.
Review, establish and implement a personal training plan to facilitate your ongoing growth and professional development at BIAH.
Mentor and coach aligned Strategic Account Team members
Other Duties Completes all special projects as required by Company (i.e. mentoring, training, leadership of projects)
Performs all company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g., EEO, FDA, etc.) and Company policy and procedures. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain BIAH's excellent reputation within the animal health community and internally
Knowledge & Skills - Bacheloregree/equivalent and a minimum of 7-10 years sales and/or related experience in the animal health/related industry.
- Must possess strong leadership and coaching skills to maximize performance results of the district.
- Must demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills to determine the appropriate course of action required in balancing the need for results with highly ethical conduct.
- Must possess thorough technical/customer/market knowledge, excellent presentation skills and the ability to assimilate and analyze diverse data to develop tactical action steps to achieve sales results.
- Should have a sustained record of solid performance results consistently performing in the top 25th percentile of peer group, across the large and small animal business units.
