Job Title: Associate Commodity Manager - Sustaining
Job Description: Purchases specifically assigned productive materials
Works to help deliver direct material cost reduction
Supports the development and implemention of value-adding long-term commodity strategies that complement the Allison strategic imperatives
Negotiates prices and terms with outside suppliers in assigned commodity areas
Prepares and submits RFQ packages, including bid list development and gathering all necessary specifications and drawings
Analyzes and understands part-specific cost drivers
Monitors and assesses supplier performance
Follows market price trends and general business activities
Creates Opportunity Scenarios (OS), internal documents for cross functional communications, for supplier process changes, supplier moves, part number cancellations, engineering / print changes, etc.
Adheres to Global Purchasing processes & policies
Ensures timely delivery of materials
Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering
Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Business,Systems Engineering or an MBA with a concentration in one of these disciplines
Strong oral and written communication skills
Appropriate interpersonal skills to work effectively and assertively with others in a cross-functional environment
Situation analysis and presentation skills
Business case analysis skills
SAP Experience
0-3 years experience in supply chain or procurement within a manufacturing environment
Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering documents
