Using independent clinical judgment, the Patient Assessment Standards Manager will hold primary responsibility for oversight of all processes and aspects of the accurate collection, reporting, trending, and analysis of patient assessment data by the hospitals' Prospective Payment Coordinators nationwide.
The Patient Assessment Standards Manager provides clinical leadership and direction to all hospital Prospective Payment Coordinators and processes by:
- Managing patient assessment policies, procedures, processes, and training materials.
- Serving as the primary clinical leader for immediate clinical problem solving and questions in regards to FIM and CARE scoring, accessing internal and external resources necessary for resolution in keeping with IRF PAI regulations and standards.
- Confirming:
- the reporting of accurate patient assessment data to CMS,
- the presence of supporting clinical documentation in the medical record, and
- clinical staff is educated and competent regarding compliance with CMS reporting requirements and guidelines for the IRF PAI.

Qualifications License or Certification:
- Licensed nurse, case manager, or allied health licensed professional
- FIM certified
Education, Training and Years of Experience:
- Appropriate to clinical licensure , i.e., doctorate, master's, bachelor's, associate's degree or allied health degree as required for licensure
- Expertise with the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF PAI)
Machines, Equipment Used:
- General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.
Physical Requirements: - Good visual acuity and ability to communicate.
- Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds including medical supplies and equipment and the transferring and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements.

- Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e., before, during or after a disaster.
- May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
