Description of Job:
This position is responsible for providing administrative and clerical assistance to the Florida Highway Patrol. Duties also include handling personnel documents, preparing correspondence, processing invoices, ordering supplies, maintaining confidential case files, compiling routine and special reports, and other various administrative functions.
Job Requirements: The selected applicant must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with experience maintaining filing systems and performing customer service. Preference will also be given to applicants with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of general office procedures and basic filing practices.
- Skill in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Ability to type letters, memoranda and other standard business forms in correct format using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Skill in communicating effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to understand, retain and apply applicable rules, laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Skill in researching and compiling information or data.
General Information: - The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months. Following the six month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement in order to be considered for that vacancy.
- HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
