As a leading supplier of products engineered to be used in demanding environments, we are looking for a dynamic Procurement Category Manager to join our team at our site in Elkton, MD.

In this role, you will drive GORE's business relationships involving the strategic sourcing of critical raw materials and technologies. The ideal candidate will be a creative, hands-on individual who can simultaneously ensure cost effective raw material availability, while supporting multiple program teams and development activities.
Responsibilities include: - Developing and executing (strategically sourcing) detailed category strategies for identified categories of spend, in alignment with the business needs and in cooperation with key stakeholders
- Strategically managing Goreritical supplier relationships and supplier performance
- Working with project teams, leadership, and legal, to develop and negotiate supply agreements
- Driving supplier compliance and development to regulated industry requirements
- Identifying high-risk suppliers and developing plans for mitigating these risks
- Supporting the Procurement operations teams in coordinating purchasing activities with suppliers, driving cost-reduction projects, and developing supply chain as required
- Building relationships with outside suppliers to leverage and expand access to new technologies not available internally to GORE
- Participating in the review of material specifications, drawings, and inspection procedures with the project teams, supply chain team, and suppliers to drive best choice supply decisions
- Teaming with Supplier Quality to develop specific supplier development programs to ensure continuous improvement
- Recognizing and protecting Gorentellectual property
- Actively participating in professional meetings and trade shows to remain current in the relevant supplier landscape with regards to new businesses, mergers, and acquisitions
- Supporting different locations across the globe
Qualifications Required Job Qualifications:
- A Bachelors' degree in Business Management, Supply Management, Engineering, or Materials Science with at least 5 years of experience in supplier relationship management, category management or strategic sourcing
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills
- Project Management skills and the ability to support engineering in the design, development and prototyping of materials and supply chain needs
- Excellent verbal and written skills and a professional working style
- Ability to:
- Conceptualize, build and maintain relationships with suppliers
- Build a functional network with a variety of disciplines including engineering, procurement, technology, manufacturing, quality, marketing, business leadership, and legal
- Work with engineering teams and comprehend technical information
- Availability for national and international travel (c.ca 20%)
Desired Job Qualifications:
- M.S. or MBA degree
- Experience with lean concepts
- Experience in regulated industries
- Experience in quality engineering or material science
