Job Summary The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a leader in the U.S. Department of Energyffort to secure an energy future that is both environmentally and economically sustainable. The Materials and Chemical Science and Technology center is looking for a well organized, motivated, proactive and detail oriented project manager to manage research equipment installations and modifications, and help support other project managers throughout the directorate.
The ideal candidate will: - Have experience planning projects with moderately complex scope, schedule and budget
- Have an interest in improving the project management culture
- Have a solid technical background in engineering, with experience in research tool design, equipment builds, and equipment installations.
- Support staff with equipment acquisitions, including defining research equipment specifications, project scope, and project schedules.
- Have experience assisting staff with developing project plans associated with new funding opportunities or existing projects
- Have experience working independently with minimal supervision
- Be comfortable with productivity solutions software, including: PMP software, databases and the Microsoft office suite
- Be comfortable with working on multiple projects simultaneously

Required Education, Experience, and Skills Relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Complete understanding and application of project management principles, concepts, practices and standards. Full knowledge of technical field and related disciplines. Very good interpersonal, conflict resolution, teaming and communication skills.
