DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position is responsible for managing and sustaining locomotive material processes in Topeka, KS as well as the Locomotive System warehouse. This position will oversee all material management responsibilities for the site and system support.
• Supervise clerical employees at the Topeka and System shop warehouses. Administer the Materials Safety Plan
• Drive standardization of inventory practices. Identify and implement process improvements leading to improved material visibility, enhanced accuracy, and increase ease of management. Lead Materials Issue Resolution Process and drive sustainability of implemented improvements
• Analyze the material consumption and ensure that warehouses are properly stocked to provide outstanding customer service and manage the material investment for BNSF

• Monitor and adjust inventory levels to reduce and eliminate risk of excess and/or obsolescence
• Ensure physical inventories/perpetual cycle counts are taken for warehouses
• Achieve key performance metrics to support material management
• Partner with the Central Control Manager (Locomotive) and other Material Managers and shop warehouses to ensure efficiency and best practices are in place

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Position requires a Bacheloregree in Supply Chain, Business, Management, or other technical degree areas.
• Position requires a minimum of 3 yearsterial / warehouse management experience or railroad mechanical supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication skills are necessary to facilitate training, management of employees, and build relationships.
• Excellent teamwork and project management skills are a must.
• Thorough understanding of BNSF operations and financial processes is helpful.
• Must have strong analytical, interpersonal, problem solving and effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be self-directed, innovative, motivated, be able to effectively lead a team and demonstrate managerial and leadership ability; overall strong leadership skills are required
• Strong presentation skills and ability to interact well with all levels of the organization.
• Strong computer skills are required to perform analysis, manage projects, generate reports and develop presentations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with material handling and warehousing processes; including inventory management practices
• Experience with material procurement and inventory systems, and with mainframe data analysis tools like SAP, Data Warehouse, or WebFocus.
• Experience leading others in exempt and/or scheduled environment.

TRAVEL: This position will require the ability to travel approximately 10 to 15% of the time to various facilities locally and to Fort Worth.
