Microfluidics Engineer 5
This position is focused on modeling, development and optimization of hardware related to imaging and fluidics for molecular profiling/ genomics. The work is highly interdisciplinary and will involve working closely with mechanical and chemical engineers, optics engineers, software engineers, external partners and OEM manufacturers. The applicant is expected to contribute to the development of instrument/ prototypes for feasibility and aid in the testing of these systems. The applicant is expected to work with OEM partners in the development of the new systems up to and through commercialization and transfer to manufacturing. Therefore the applicant need to have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications needed:
- Experience with hardware/ prototypes development for genomics
- Experience with design/selection of hardware to control microfluidics: pumps, valves, and manifolds
- Experience with fluidics/microfluidics and/or pipetting robots
Requirements: - Experience working genomics and proteomics and imaging tools industry
- Experience with design and development of commercial instrumentation
- Experience with fluid modeling, design and automation of fluidic systems
- Instrument prototyping through development and assembly of breadboard systems
- Strong engineering or biophysics background in the design and analysis of mechanical, chemical, and biological systems
- A hands-on orientation toward experimentation and rapid prototype development
- Ability to work both independently and closely in collaboration with a core team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Degree in mechanical, electrical, bioengineering, physics, bio-physics or related field plus a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience.
