Deliver application engineering requirements for customer release.
Key Responsibilities Application Engineer will be reporting within the Account Team on AWD and CVJ product technology.
Review customer requirements/specifications and initiate /conduct feasibility studies.
Perform engineering calculations for joint sizing and make proposals on the joint type. Validate and approve the product performance at each stage of development in accordance with the customer and DL specifications for all global applications.
Create the NBA product proposal and other documentation.
Manage all relevant application engineering tasks/activities in accordance with the customer APQP (where applicable) and DL CAPM deliverables (including pre through stage and inclusive of stage .
Prepare the product design package for initial review and drawing creation.
Authorise the release of the pre-production parts list and structures on the business system for local customer release launch.
Manage and support the creation and update of the DFMEA and support the PFMEA.
Lead internal design reviews and the assembly drawing approval for the local customer release launch. Communicate and coordinate this with other transplant applications.
Lead local supplier design reviews (DFM and DFA) for local customer release launch. Communicate and coordinate this with other transplant locations.
Initiate prototype requests and associated documents (PMS, PO's, IPO'snd release to local product launch centres.
Lead prototype and pre-production sample build reviews for local customer release launch.
Supply test specifications to test engineer and support the DVP&R creation and customer review. Work with test engineer to determine expected test results prior to testing. Review and concur test reports prior to issuing to the customer.
Lead the technical response review (approval) for the stage change management process.
Support financial assessments and cost analysis of the product design.
Support the PPAP package preparation with product launch operations through the appropriate Application Liaison Engineers and Product Launch Managers.
Maintain awareness of relevant patents, agreements, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights of GKN, customers and competitors to ensure protection of GKN innovation and respect of competitor and customer intellectual property.Communicate andcoordinate with the Patent Department regarding these matters.
Handle and store data with due regard to confidentiality.
Support a safe working environment in accordance with Company procedures and current legislation.

Support other DL activities as required.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Strong customer service skills, including remaining calm under pressure
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Computer skills
Ability to work cross functionally effectively with internal departments at all levels
Ability to travel independently (less than 10%)
Automotive engineering experience - driveline or powertrain products is a plus
Ability to speak English fluently
