Executive Director of Technology Services
Primary Purpose: Manage the installation of and monitor/support the District wide area network (WAN) and instructional local area networks (LAN). Trouble-shoot and resolve personal computer hardware/software/network connectivity problems.
Qualifications: Minimum Education/Certification:
College degree or comparable technical training/certification preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Broad knowledge of various WAN/LAN communication protocols including AppleTalk, IBM APPC, and TCP/IP.
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot CISCO networking devices
- In-depth knowledge of x86 and Pentium PC-compatible and Power Macintosh hardware, Windows 3.1x, Windows 95/NT, and Mac OS system software.
- Practical working knowledge of design, installation, and maintenance of category 5 UTP and fiber optics cabling systems.
- Ability to work effectively with other District personnel.
- Ability to perform all job functions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and make sound, independent decisions when necessary.
Major Responsibilities & Duties:
Support
- Ensure that the functional aspects of assigned areas of responsibility are supportive of the goals of the District and department.
- Collaborate with Media Specialists, Instructional Technologists to meet campus technology needs.
- Promote a positive, caring environment during performance of assigned job functions through teamwork and use of effective interpersonal skills.
- Provide on-going WAN and instructional LAN hardware and software capacity and performance planning to ensure proper operating environment to meet usage requirements of network users.
Technology Management and Marketing
- Monitor and support the District WAN to ensure good throughput of data traffic across the network.
- Configure/reconfigure WAN routers, gateways, etc. as appropriate to maintain the WAN at peak operating efficiency.
- Monitor and support network operating systems to ensure proper operating environment to meet userseds.
- Provide on-site installation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution on hardware for all users.
- Provide on-site installation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of operating systems for all users.
- Troubleshoot problems and coordinate the repair and/or installation of category 5 UTP data cabling throughout the District.
- Provide individual computer system and data communication security planning and administration as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of and a fiduciary approach toward all departmental and district information, data, forms, etc. (normal/confidential memos/correspondence with department/District, passwords, student information).
- Demonstrate support for the Districttudent management policies and expected student behavior related to information systems, computer hardware and software, and network services.
- Promote positive feelings of goodwill toward technology with school and community members.
- Promote the Districtnd departmentission and goals in the area of information and computer services to other District personnel and the school community.
- Perform other duties/assignments as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology Services.
