We build the compute platform that runs Azure cloud services and applications. The platform services we ship include Virtual machines, Scale Sets, Managed Disks and Images. The services are highly scalable, secure and are a critical part of the global Azure offering. As Azure grows at exponential scale, there is a need to meet new challenges intelligently and with 100% machine automation. Supportability is a key challenge for long-term customer satisfaction and loyalty.

We are starting a ground up effort to look deep into support challenges and build software services that can intelligently detect/predict problems and heal them before the customer is impacted. Such services will be informed by big data, include heuristics and machine language models to detect anomalies and predict trends and couple those with innovative ways to heal and recover customer applications.

This role requires the engineer to dive into data, leverage ML and AI as needed and collaborate closely with Support and other Compute/Storage/Networking service teams in Azure. This is a v1 opportunity to build new services by incorporating the learnings. The opportunity for the right developer is endless with much growth potential. The services will have a high-quality bar and fast time to market by reusing Open Source, Containers and other technologies. We ship in short iterations with agile development and collaboration models.

Required qualifications:

2+ years of experience in building software services with managed code and cloud technologies

Prefer experience in the areas of security, scale and reliability Background in big data, Kubernetes, Linux, ML and AI is valued A BA/BS degree in computer science, related discipline
