Job Description

Advanced/Senior:

Perform engineering evaluations and analyses, and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks. Cognizant areas may include planning, designing, modeling, analyzing, documenting, and testing of nuclear, mechanical, structural or electrical components, systems and equipment and facilities. Work may include chemical or materials evaluations, design reviews, operations support, safety analysis, engineering methods and software development, and analysis of vendor's procedures and systems for quality control or manufacturing surveillance.

This position is responsible for providing engineering support and oversight of all facets of the Knolls weight handling program. Responsibilities include:

• Development and approval of technical procedures for the execution of maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of cranes/crane structures, and rigging gear.
• Cognizant Engineer for all elevated crane trackage (crane rails).
• Development of technical resolution for identified crane/crane structure deficiencies.
• Review and approval of rigging plans/sketches in support of production lifts.
• Involvement in the procurement of crane parts and rigging equipment in support of KWH maintenance activities.
• Interfacing with other NNL corporate weight handling engineering leads, Navy Crane Center, and Naval Reactors.
• Participate as a Member in NNL Weight Handling Communities of Practice (COPs) with other NNL Weight Handling personnel (Bettis, NRF, Kesselring SIte) to develop and implement consistent program standards and process improvements relating to the management of the weight handling program.
• Develop process improvements in KWH work processes to improve efficiency in execution.

Required Skills

Advanced:

BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or

MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience

Senior:

BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or

MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with NAVFAC P-307 and other associated Industry Standards (ASME B30 Series, etc)

Knowledge of the design of rigging arrangements for the execution of lifting operations.
