This position is for a mid-level Mechanical Engineer for the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Program (ABMD) in Huntsville, AL.

Primary Responsibilities as applicable to the ABMD program:

• Develops and documents mechanical and cabling designs, including technical data packages, test plans, post-test reports, process specifications, and work instructions.
• Develops cost reduction proposals, calculates return on investment, develops project requirements and schedules, and implements them into production.
• Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Supports on-going production activities and provides real-time support as non-conformances arise.
• Supports Configuration Control Board, Process Control Board, Material Review Board, and Failure Review Board.Contributes to supplier development, test, production, and troubleshooting activities.
• Contributes to supplier development, test, production, and troubleshooting activities.

Note: Through 2018 there may be extensive travel (

50%) while site consolidation activities are completed. A Domestic Temporary Assignment to Huntington Beach, CA for 6 to 12 months is also a possibility if the employee and program management concur.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required):

• This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.Experience in the design of electronics packaging.
• Experience with 3-D parametric design tool Creo (Wildfire / Pro-Engineer) and PDM tool Windchill.
• Understanding of structural and thermal analysis.

Assets (Preferred):

• MSME desired.
• Experience in the structural design.
• Experience with AutoCAD or ProgeCAD.
• Experience performing failure analysis and root cause corrective action.
• Experience supporting both program quality and supplier quality and reviewing First Article Inspection reports.
• Experience with working with Supplier Management and interfacing directly with suppliers on technical concerns.
• Experience with working with the customer and interfacing directly with the customerngineering on technical concerns.
• Experience with configuration management (drawing release / drawing changes / process changes / material review boards / waivers / deviations).
• Experience with material selection and material and process specifications (MIL, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, ISO, IPC, etc).
• Demonstrated experience with drafting standards (including ASME geometric dimensioning and tolerance GD&T standards.)

Typical Education and Experience:

Level 3

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
