Our Power Delivery Services group performs transmission, distribution, and substation engineering services for a variety of Investor Owned Utilities, Municipalities, and Cooperatives throughout the entire US.
We are currently seeking experienced Lead Distribution Engineer in our Naperville, Ill office to provide design engineering and leadership for distribution projects. This is a long-term assignment supporting ongoing projects for our clients throughout the eastern United States.
In this role, your Key Responsibilities will include:
- Ability to design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 4 kV to 69 kV
- Knowledge of electrical distribution system design engineering standards, practices and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate small design teams as needed in order to develop budgets, prepare scoping documents, design criteria, and project deliverables.
- Provide clients with engineering assistance during construction, and be available to attend construction meetings, coordination efforts and community outreach as needed.
- Review of completed designs and design products to ensure compliance with client quality and consistency standards
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal, client and regulatory counterparts.
- Ability to maintain production in a changing environment
- Provide technical guidance, leadership, and effectively manage workloads for assigned team members
As a qualified candidate, you will have the above experience and meet the below requirements:
- Minimum of 5+Years of Distribution Engineering or related experience
- BS in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Electrical Distribution System experience
- Solid Knowledge of NESC and other applicable codes and standards
- Solid knowledge in PoleForeman, GE Smallworld Design Manager, WMS, WMIS, ArcGIS,
- Willingness to learn and operate client provided programs and systems
- Fluent in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Existing client relationships considered a plus
- Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies
- Required to travel up to 30% of the time to client sites; duration of travel length may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few weeks to several months at a time.
- Activities at client sites may require pre-job briefs and walkdowns at the site, including occasional climbing.
