The Team: By working with all Cognex business units, Our Operations Engineering team ensures that all new products being introduced into our global supply chain meet our high quality design and development standards. The Reliability Engineering team focuses on maintaining that quality throughout design changes and product updates.
The Role: This Associate Electrical Engineer will accept a lead role in providing electrical support for issues involving new and existing products. The responsibilities are ultimately focused on minimizing field failures and maintaining product quality. There will be frequent opportunities to effectively interface with design, process, test, and manufacturing engineering to solve electrical engineering product issues and production problems.
Essential Functions: - Lead the investigation on product failures by identifying the root cause, recommending actions, validating results, and driving corrective action.
- Lead projects, as assigned, identifying and solving specific customer issues.
- Create clearly-written, fact-based reports on trending failures and other product-related problems.
- Create and maintain documents supporting product debug.
- Lead the qualification of new and alternative electrical components relating to EOL, PPV, etc. to ensure production flow and high product quality.
- Create and enforce qualification standards across multiple product lines and functional departments.
- Assist with other responsibilities and tasks, when needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Requires a rigorous engineering design based methodology combined with multi-disciplinary engineering skills (software as well as mechanical, electrical and optical hardware).
- Hardware debugging skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and fully understand how a product works by using existing documentation and tools.
- Ability to work with prototypes. Reasonable solder skills.
- Proficiency with lab test equipment like oscilloscopes, diagnostic software, designing and running test experiments.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
Minimum education and work experience required:
- Bacheloregree in Electrical Engineering.
- 0-2 years of electrical product engineering experience, preferably with commercial embedded systems.
- Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
- Familiarity with mechanical, optical, and software engineering concepts sufficient to enable debugging issues.
