VIRTUALIZATION ENGINEER NTRACT RRISVILLE, NC
Virtualization Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience
- More than 8 yearsperience preferred in a large enterprise and exposure to related Data Centre technologies
- Excellent understanding of VMware technologies and server automation concepts
- Experience designing and operating enterprise level virtualization solutions for a global organization
- Proficiency in scripting and/or automating redundant repeatable processes
- Expert knowledge of system and network management tool concepts
- Excellent understanding of SAN/NAS technologies and their integration with virtualization platforms
- Excellent understanding of Networking technologies and their integration with virtualization platforms
- Ability to design, coordinate, plan, and manage complex technical solutions
- Strong experience with shared storage solutions as part of the virtualization infrastructure
Desirable: - Experience in integration and writing code against the VMware API and SDK
- Good understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure
- Good understanding of physical hardware, including CPUs, firmware and hardware management
- Experience designing scalable multi-location virtual infrastructure platforms
- Basic project management skills & experience
- Good knowledge of Windows and Unix / Linux
- Good knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery techniques
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent experience
Virtualization Engineer Responsibilities:
- Provide expert knowledge in VMware technologies especially the vSphere ( ver. 5.5 through 6.5) platform in order to engineer new internal virtualization products
- Integrate VMware products with other software and services to provide end to end customer services
- Leverage good understanding of SAN/NAS/DAS technologies and Networking technologies
- Evaluate new technologies
- Develop product and solution standards to be used globally
- Develop test cases and perform Unit and Integration testing
- Create system design and specification documents for virtualization-related elements of the compute hosting platform. Document test cases and results.
