We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer/Technical Leader to help architect, re-design and implement our infrastructure to produce higher-quality Hadoop software more efficiently and faster than before. You will be part of a team that develops our engineering tools (including distributed testing, multi-component distribution builds, automated reviews, and so on) significantly leveraging cloud computing services (e.g., EC2 and Google Compute). On this team you will be immersed in many exciting, cutting edge technologies and projects, including collaboration with developers, testers, product, field engineers, and our external partners, both software and hardware vendors.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with the development and test teams to provide an integrated and coherent automation toolset.
Work across different levels of the organization to identify common problems and conceive various tools for understanding and solve them.
Will be responsible for leading organizational change across engineering.
Architect and evangelize ways to efficiently using tools to achieve optimum performance.
Work with Product Managers, Developers and Customers to understand requirements for systems for development and testing.
Collaborate with your peers and product management to define the engineering roadmap, and provide your input to prioritize different projects
Qualifications: BS degree in Computer Science, related degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of software development with demonstrated experience in end-to-end ownership of substantial project(s)
5+ years experience with Linux
Significant Software Engineering experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to have: Experience with build infrastructure (e.g. Jenkins), and build tools (e.g. Maven, Ant, Make, CMake, etc)
Experience with provisioning clusters on Amazon EC2, and/or Google Compute
Experience with private/public clouds, virtualization technologies (VMWare, KVM, or similar) and container technologies (Docker)
