Job Description: - Focal person in the manufacturing engineering group for all electro-mechanical issues in manufacturing.
- Lead Manufacturing Engineer responsible for new product introduction.
- Troubleshoot, identify root cause, resolve, and generate corrective actions for all mechanical and electrical issues that have been escalated to the manufacturing engineering group.
- Lead and implement all fixes, modifications, and design enhancements in manufacturing.
- Perform routine updates and corrections to engineering documentations (drawings, BOM, Specs, Procedures, etc).
- Responsible for all Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in manufacturing. Generate meticulous, detailed, and thorough documentation. This includes production procedures, tests, and inspection criteria.
- Generate and maintain block diagrams and schematics for overall system. Specify and select commercially available ("off the shelf") electronics subsystems, boards, and components.
- Perform failure mode analysis for electro-mechanical sub-systems.
- Design and implement test setups for component (e.g. motor, power supply), board, and subsystem level testing and qualification as appropriate.
- Clearly and concisely document ideas, test results, options, problem issues, etc... Assist in the development of required documentation for product development, including the transfer to manufacturing (schematics, diagrams, BOM, test procedures).
Education and Experience: - BSEE, BSME, or similar Engineering degree.
- 3+ years' experience with computer/PC controlled capital/process equipment with significant automation and motion control.
- Completed a minimum of one product life cycle (from concept to production) as a key contributor.
- Product Engineering and sustaining engineering experience.
- Significant knowledge and expertise with Electro-mechanical assemblies, cable, and wire layout and management.
- CAD software skills (AutoCAD, Solid works) for cables, harness, and the board's mechanical layout.
- Solid experience in using and specifying motion control hardware (e.g. motors, drivers, controllers - closed and open loop).
- Familiarity with motion control and automation protocols (e.g. CAN bus).
- Proven track record in specifying and qualifying electrical components such as power supplies and sensors.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with PC and embedded software controlled equipment.
- Experience in troubleshooting low and medium power electronics.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, VB (Visual Basic), or similar test and measurement automation software is strongly preferred.
- Some embedded software development and circuit design experience is a plus.
- Experience with capital/process equipment, automation, and motion control systems is a big plus.
- Must have the ability to manage and meet schedule commitments, and possess good organizational and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be capable of working with little supervision.
- Ability to interact professionally and courteously with customers, sales/marketing, development, manufacturing, and suppliers.
- Must have a strong work ethic, and good written and verbal communication skills.
