We're currently looking for an Advanced Quality Planning Engineer - Production Engineering to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.
Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate supplier and design activity to improve parts through design lessons learned.
- Confirming suppliers adopt all design requirements into their quality control plan.
- Reviewing digital part data to confirm supplier inspection plans will accurately measure all critical areas of the part.
- Managing suppliers to assure all quality documentation is submitted and approved on time.
- Oversee supplier development schedule to assure readiness at trial build.
- Support tool design and build to improve initial quality level off tool.
- Support quality improvement feedback cycles to achieve part compliance at first build.
Summary of Work Activity:
- Reduce part quality concerns (dimensional / appearance) through early interface with design and supplier.
- Assure control methods for qualifying parts, including gauges, check points, appearance criteria, and ANPQP (APQP).
- Follow parts through off tool condition (prior to off process) and countermeasure with supplier any deficiencies observed.
- The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of development and launch of the following interior & exterior key parts being (but not limited to) lamps, grille, glass, mirrors, CPM, console, seats, carpet, seals, and similar parts.
- Comprehensive knowledge of injection molding, tool design - construction, and process troubleshooting, along with gauge design and function are required.
- Must be willing to travel (10-25% of time) including extended trips to Japan (usually 2-4 weeks).
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; BSME or BSEE preferred.
- Project management experience is required for this position; candidates must be organized and able to plan, track and manage large projects.
- Knowledge of ANPQP (APQP) and ANPQP supplier documents, understanding of JD Powers customer satisfaction criteria (fit and finish, function, etc.)
- Basic understanding of how to use 3D viewing software for digital confirmation of part design.
- Excellent communication and negotiating skillsĀ· 8-10 years directly related automotive experience.
- In this position the successful candidate will improve and assure initial vehicle build quality (first trial); using the Alliance New Product Quality Procedure (ANPQP or APQP) from digital data release through first trial build.
