The Network Operations Engineer will provide 24x7 network management and analysis for the Verizon FTTP video network.
- The candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the end to end video network; both linear and non-linear. Knowledge of basic routing protocols and internal system tools (vRepair, Aequitas, IVAPP, INMS, OASIS, & MASTARS) is highly desired.
- Evaluation of FTTP and OTT network performance data.
- Trouble ticket management, OASIS flash management and escalations.
- Alarm management.
- Identifying initial fault isolation including triage and technical support to CO and outside plant technicians.
- Participates in staffing a 24 hour FTTP Network Management Center to ensure Verizon's customer satisfaction, network quality, and cost goals are met.
- Resolves network problems and outages and takes actions to improve network performance.
- Interact with National Operations, Network Operations and National Services to restore customer impacting conditions.

- Video On Demand.
- Ad Insertion.
- Interactive Media Guide.
- Over The Top video.
What we're looking for... You'll need to have:
- Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience.
- Willingness to work any of the three shifts and rotate based on needs of the business. Weekends, holidays, and overnight work may be required.
Even better if you have:
- A bachelor's degree in telecommunications, management, or an IP or security related field or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal, writing and problem solving skills.
- Worked with external and internal Verizon organizations coordinating troubleshooting network events.
- Experience working in a 24x7 Network Operations Center including working in a shift work environment.
- Ability to provide timely and accurate network information to both management and other organizations during network events and major, critical and catastrophic outages.
- The ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment while multitasking.
- Worked well within a team environment but also independently as needed.
- Proven job performance in current and previous positions.
- Familiarity with optical networks and troubleshooting.
- FTTP and/or Optical Line Terminal knowledge.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the end to end video network; both linear and non-linear.
- Demonstrated understanding of a content distribution network.
- Terrestrial and OTA content acquisition.
- Content transcoding, encryption and content transformation.
- Enterprise NAS storage management.
- Linux and Windows sysadmin experience.
- Video on demand and/or ad insertion experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of cloud computing.
- Demonstrated understanding of server farms.
- Demonstrated understanding of routers and firewalls.
- Entry level scripting experience in JavaScript, Perl, Python, or any scripting language, developing ad hoc reports, or network maintenance tools.
