Information Systems Engineer
Description: The Information Systems Engineerole is to manage, document and execute code promotions of Omni software through test and user acceptance environments to production in an FIS hosted ASP (Application Service Provider) environment. Information Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This individual will also mentor and provide guidance to other Systems Engineer staff.
Position Responsibilities: Install, configure, test and maintain application software and system management tools
Manage Change Control
- Manage workflow tasks related to code promotion
- Ensure software code promotion changes are accurately documented, scheduled, promoted through lower environments (test / user acceptance environments) and approved by customer prior to deploying to production.
Core Product Promotions
- Analyze fixes provided by development, documents / creates procedures for promotion
- Coordinate remediation of AIX PROCS and Windows CMDs
- Update librarian compiler area, compiler scripts, compile COBOL runtime system (AIX)
- Maintain remediated release / service pack artifacts to a code repository
Web Product Promotions
- Analyze fixes provided by development, documents / creates procedures for promotion
- Coordinate database schema creation, database migration and schema updates
- Install third party applications, tools and utilities as required
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
Provide 2nd and 3rd level production support
Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Requirements: - BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux and Windows based environments.
- Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, JBoss, Apache)
- Experience with monitoring systems
- Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts)
- Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
- Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
