This includes search against many document repositories, source control systems and reference architecture / implementation documentation. Also, support information, onboarding facilitation, career advancement and more!
A day in the life...
- Design high-availability systems that power the productivity of thousands of engineers
- Contribute to the project plan
- Mentor junior members of the team
- Contribute code back to open source projects used by the team
- Write new components from scratch when there is no suitable open source project
- Build monitoring and alerting
- Ensure systems perform according to service level objectives
- Create and maintain deployment pipelines
- Interact with users to promote best practices
- Troubleshoot and fix the system when it breaks
- Share the responsibility of being on-call
- Evaluate and recommend products for future service offerings
Qualifications You own this if you have...
- Expertise in engineering HA systems
- Proficiency with systems in one of: AWS, Google Cloud, Bare metal datacenters
- Proficiency with GoLang, Node.js or Java.
- Proficiency with writing production level software applications
- Proficiency with Linux SysOps tasks
- Can write clean, readable code
- Familiarity with networking, comp sci stuff, and distributed systems
- Desire to keep learning new technologies
- Understanding of security concepts
