DESCRIPTION The AWS DDoS Response Team (DRT) is the support operations and system development team that is responsible for building and maintaining Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) mitigation infrastructure, automating DDoS attack mitigation and response, and driving high-severity event resolution on behalf of AWS infrastructure and AWS Shield customers.
As a Software Development Engineer for DRT you will help lead development projects and write code for applications that provide critical capabilities to on-call engineers and AWS customers in order to minimize availability impact and reduce operational pain. You are both tactical and strategic, leading DDoS event response and translating learnings into innovative solutions that help prevent re-occurrence. Customers will rely on your expertise to help review and improve application architecture and operational best practices that are key to DDoS-resiliency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or similar quantitative field, or related industry experience
· 3+ years experience in modern object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Java, C++)
· 3+ years experience in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Demonstrable expertise in software engineering best practices and full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and influence both product strategy and outcomes in technical decision-making
