DESCRIPTION

The AWS DDoS Response Team (DRT) is the support operations and system development team that is responsible for building and maintaining Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) mitigation infrastructure, automating DDoS attack mitigation and response, and driving high-severity event resolution on behalf of AWS infrastructure and AWS Shield customers.

As a Senior Support Engineer for DRT you will help lead support operations for AWS services that protect customers against DDoS attacks and other threats. Customers will rely on your expertise to help review and improve application architecture and operational best practices that are key to DDoS-resiliency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or quantitative field, or related industry experience

· 7+ years experience in 24/7 operations in a technical support, security services, or network operations center environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Demonstrable expertise in scaling technical support processes for large public services

· Experience in at least one modern programming language such as Ruby, Java, or C/C++.

· Knowledge and experience with major Internet protocols; specifically BGP, TCP, and UDP

· Knowledge and experience with AWS services commonly used to build web applications (e.g. Amazon EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon CloudFront, or Amazon Route 53)

· Knowledge of DDoS attacks and the best options for mitigation
