Position Purpose - The Refinery Production Engineer will work at the facility on projects and practices related to base investments - cost reduction, yield optimization, and reliability improvements within the refinery. They will identify and develop (together with the COE and the local team) various projects consistent with capital deployment and business strategy, but also develop and implement best practices. The duties of the Production Engineer are driven by making a noticeable impact in these areas in the short/mid term
Principal Accountabilities - 60%- Implement base capital projects related to plant operations - project justification/ development from explore/feasibility through startup. Includes direct supervision of engineering and construction contractors
- 20%- Assist with day to day operation and process improvement driving to reduce operating costs and improve production and efficiencies
- 10%- Commissioning and startup of projects
- 10%- Misc. duties related to the refinery process
Qualifications Required Qualifications-
- Bachelor's degree of Science in Chemical, Mechanical or other engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of process engineering or project management experience
- Communication Skills: Good listener, able to present complicated matter in a clear way both written and verbally, engaging in discussions, basic negotiation skills
- Interpersonal skills: team player, respectful, reach out for assistance and offer assistance
- Technical skills: good understanding of project management.
- Proven ability to behave in accordance with Cargill values and ethics
- Will be required to take on-call. Work night or weekends at time.
- Ability to travel 10%
Preferred Qualifications- - Strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mass/material balance and process design.
- 5+ yearsperience in a food production environment
- Basic financial knowledge (base, non-base)
- Good understanding of continuous improvement, maintenance and reliability, PI, basic understanding of ACAD, MS Project
- Vegetable oil refinery experience
- Familiarity with Continuous improvement processes such as: Six Sigma or Lean Manufacture
