Position Title: Firmware Senior Engineer
Position Location: Round Rock, TX
Salary: $84,341 annual
Hours: Monday iday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Summary of Duties: Responsible for the design and development activities associated with BIOS (Basic input output system) software using a range of applicable technologies (e.g. programming languages, compilers, assemblers, debuggers, Integrated test plans, Scopes, Logic Analyzers and other tools) and state-of-the-art software engineering methodologies. Assist in setting the technical direction for one or more firmware subsystems and ensure their implementation into Dell's PowerEdge Server enterprise product line. Responsible for embedded server firmware, including feature definition, development process execution, integration testing, fault isolation, manufacturing release and resolution of design and coding issues found in the field. Participate in the preparation, review, and analysis of software requirements and specifications. Develop, test, and integrate code for new software projects. Communicate project issues and status. Use defined software lifecycle methodologies. Review and implement test strategies for software products.
Qualifications: This position requires a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field of study. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field of study plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years of experience in a related occupation in which the experience can be obtained in lieu of a Master's degree. Requires experience with: C, C++, Perl, Python and object oriented methodologies; Intel Server architecture and systems management applications; embedded Linux and open source libraries; and low-level firmware or device drivers.
