Summary The Applications Engineer determines, specifies or confirms material specifications and minimum thicknesses to meet manufacturing, product, customer needs, and regulatory requirements. The key position results include but are not limited to products designed to meet customer and regulatory requirements and facility capabilities; product cost reductions through optimization of material usage and manufacturing methods; zero product design errors in the field; and product design documentation complete prior to manufacturing the product. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver with a strong understanding of codes and standards, and AutoCAD and drawing practices.
Responsibilities - Designs products to meet regulatory codes and standards, customer needs and expectations, plant capabilities and profitability expectations.
- Provides direction to product drafting group in the completion of product drawings.
- Approves Bill of Materials (BOMand provides additional information as required.
- Answers sales questions and provides product training.
- Assists other departments with design or regulatory needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
