POSITION SUMMARY: Electrical Engineer III plans and executes electrical designs for new and existing tools, electromechanical systems, and hand-held electronic test equipment. This role is also responsible for software or applications used in conjunction with these products.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to an Engineering Lead. Greenlee engineers work closely with other functions across the business including product management, operations, and marketing, as well as outside vendors.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Drive research, design, development, sourcing and manufacture of parts and components on new product programs
2. Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and application requirements in relevant product categories
3. Translate customer needs to functional requirements and initial concepts
4. Work closely with product managers, other engineers, designers, and technicians to achieve functional product objectives on time and within budget
5. Organize engineering tasks to meet completion dates and technical specifications
6. Evaluate progress on new product programs and proactively recommend changes as required to ensure successful execution
7. Perform all duties within Textronusiness Conduct Guidelines
Qualifications DESIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
· Ability to create embedded software for microcontroller based products (C, C++, Java, Assembly)
· Experience designing analog and digital circuits
· FPGA design using Vivado
· Schematic capture and PCB layout
· Experience with UL, CSA, CE, and FCC agency certification of Transportable Equipment
· Experience with Altium, Solidworks Electrical, and LabVIEW are pluses
· Additional experience in the following is also preferred: automation, PLC development (ladder logic and structured text), HMI development, servo and stepper motors, multiple axis systems, motor tuning, control cabinet layout, motion control and machine safety
· Candidate should have experience with basic meters, scopes, spectrum analyzers and test equipment
· Preference will be given to candidates with prior knowledge and experience with one or more of the following: instrumentation, motor controls, software design, user interface of industrial equipment
· 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering
A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or related discipline is required. Experience in electrical engineering or a related environment is mandatory for this position.
Some travel required, including internationally.
