Position Overview Are you looking for a high energy team where you can make a direct contribution to building a new data API platform? Autodesk is looking for a talented Sr. Principal Engineer who is passionate about delivering a new enterprise data platform cible,r use by engineers across Autodesk and integrated with our external engineering platform ge.class="new_p"> To date, our API's have been focused on specific business needs, and have baked in business rules and requirements. This makes them inherently hard to re-use beyond their original purpose. This leads to complex logic embedded in multiple places in a given API, and business logic sprinkled throughout.
Our custom cibleatform focuses on building a set of model based REST API's for our back office (SAP, SFDC, Siebel) data objects to be used either directly, or as building blocks for "functional" services. The model based API's are intended to be microservices with consistent semantics across API's, allowing for simple composition in what Crucible terms the "Lightweight Orchestration" component (this will use the policy capabilities in our Apigee implementation to "glue" API's together into specific functional API's). Moving to this approach separates use case specific logic from the API plumbing, allowing faster API delivery for business projects (and also allowing all of the back end technology "SME" type work to be done one time for a given object type, rather than every time we need a new API or a change to an existing one).
Responsibilities - Lead Technical Architecture for the cibleatform team
- Participate in design and development of the data platform and APIs
- Define data models, and integrate with various back office systems
- Deliver high quality code, with focus on automated unit and functional tests
- Work both independently and with a team of peers following agile methodologies
- Perform peer code reviews to ensure highest code quality
- Profile and optimize the code to deliver services that scale
Requirements - BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 8+ years of Software Engineering Experience
- Experience with web technologies such as REST and GraphQL
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6, ES7), and Ruby
- Experience delivering serverless applications using cloud platforms such as AWS
- Knowledge of MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Strong problem-solving skills and capability to work on complex systems
- Familiarity with API design tools such as Swagger (Open API)
- Ability to collaborate with different stakeholders across the organization
- Great team player with strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience working on an Agile development team
- Experience working with Git
- Experience with Jenkins, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
