Network Engineer
The Public Defender, 10th Circuit, is looking for a Computer Network Engineer to fill a full time position in Bartow, Florida. This person will provide support, training and troubleshooting in a constantly evolving enterprise class networked infrastructure consisting of Workstations, Laptops, Mobile Devices, and Servers running any combination of operating systems (such as Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android OS). Perform beck-end network functions such as granting access to users, creating user groups, resetting passwords, managing shared resources, installing peripherals, configuring security. Must have a strong aptitude and willingness to learn, help identify, and incorporate new technologies as they become relevant to the organization. Works closely with the Director of IT.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support, Installation, and Training on a wide range of applications and products such as:
- Micro Focus Products (including former Novell and NetIQ applications)
- Backup Solution management
- Virus prevention and response
- Work effectively with any required hardware and related software such as:
- Cabling (Ethernet, Fiber, etc.)
Knowledge & Skills - Requires knowledge of the techniques and procedures necessary to administer and support an enterprise network environment with Meta-Directories and governance.
- Requires experience with personal computer equipment and a skill set with standard office applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, basic windows components, etc.
- Must be able to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain all the software applications.
- Must have strong communication and training skills and be able to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
Education & Experience AA/AS degree plus three years relevant experience; OR
BA/BS degree in computer science or related discipline plus one year relevant experience; OR
Relevant certification and verifiable experience; OR
A combination of education and experience that is determined to enable performance of all aspects of the position.
Physical Skills & Abilities
Depending on assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 lbs. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.
